Learning from Africa

Learning from Africa Learning about the reasons behind some of African technology is a way to learn about African economy and culture. To study water lifting incorporates to understand how a rubber bag is made and used. Next comes the dialogue with the users. This dialogue may reveal more if -for the sake of the argument only- an alternative for the traditional technology is presented. In case users like to test this alternative, even more reasons behind the actual situation can be disclosed. In this section are described the the traditional rubber bag, a scalable template for a rubber bag and a water lifting method for irrigation that uses two rubber bags, a pulley and a tripod over a well.
